URGENT！急需帮忙，关于H1

Background: I140 approved, I485 pending > 180 days
H1b is on 7th year, and will expire soon on 03/12/2008

Situation:
Got an offer from a new employer today. Will negoniate salary and hopefully accept the offer by this weekend.

Question 1:
Time is tight because I want to keep H1 instead of using EAD. Do you think the new employer's lawyer is able to file H1 transfer and H1 renew
by 03/12/2008? Usually how long it will take for file both petitions?

Question 2:
In case the new employer can't file H1 transfer and H1 renew by 03/12/2008, is there any grace period after 03/12/2008(expiration date of my H1) that I can still do H1 transfer and H1 renew?
