Why AP expiration date does not match H1B expiration date

My status H1B and I485 pending.
I used AP to enter the US a couple of months ago.
Just found out that the USCBP officer gave me an AP expiration date which was about half year earlier than my H1B's expiration date.

Is this a mistake? Is it common?
