老妈就要去签证，请问一个问题

我父亲前年去世。昨天我妈去美大使馆签证处(北京)踩点，被告知如果说自己的老伴去世，则自己被拒签的可能性极大。他们建议我妈随便编个理由说老伴还有事要在北京照料，所以不能赴美，这样的通过可能就多得多。

我一直对这种说法表示怀疑，但我妈和我姐却告诉我说签证处那的负责查电码和照相的人经验很丰富。请问各位XDJM，如果是你，你会怎么做？真心希望各位帮帮我，先谢过了。
