you didn't tell the truth when they asked you if you had anythin

When I was at the gate, I was asked by a police officer if I had any food in my carry-on bag. I said "Oh, yes, two oranges and two bags of beef jerky"; I didn't notice until that moment that a police dog stopped by my bag trying to smell something. Another officer opened my bag, took out the two oranges, lifted them up into the air, gave me an evil look, and then threw them into the trash. They let me keep the beef and go.
