sorry to hear that.
But if you are out of status for short time, maybe it is still ok? I guess.
If you are out of status for long time, I am not sure what should do. Maybe you need report to Canadian immigration for status changing? Since the letter came along with landing paper did say you need report status changing before landing.
Or how about go back your original country, and go to canada for landing from your original country, then I guess they will not care about your US status. But the question is if it is allowed you apply for it in US, but go there for landing from different country. You can check the approval letter again to see if there is any limitation. Good luck!
