Hi can anybody answer my quest

I am planning the trip back to China in the next half year. Because the DOS will end visa revalidation soon, I will send my revalidation to DOS in next few days.

However, from the processing time of DOL, my labor certification would probably be approved soon and I can file I140/I485 application after that. In case this happens before my passport is returned from DOS, I want to know whether I can file I140/I485 without my passport in my hand. Does anybody know whether I need my passport and I797 for filing I140/I485?
The next question is if I file I140/I485, can I travel outside US and come back with my H1B visa? Will it affect my application for I140/I485? Do I have to use Advance Parole to travel outside US if my H1B status is still valid and I have a valid H1B visa?
