Thanks: can employer cancel our EAD cards if I leave?

Thanks for help:
My wife just received her EAD. my employer's lawyer keeps asking for a copy. It sounds he cares so much, which is abnormal. I wonder if they can cancel that EAD if I leave my employer later on. Can they do that if they want to? After 180 days, do they still have any authority on our EAD?
