pls help!

I have US greencard and for some reason, I need to land Canada. I am wondering if I would have some trouble when i return back. I got some confusing info: some later said it is totally OK and some said the officer at the US border will cancel the green card when I reurn back. Anyone has the experience on this issue? Thanks,
