Not true. If my memory services me right, your kid will be treated as a US citizen at Chinese Border Control post ONLY when at least one of you (the parents) has either green card or citizenship. Otherwise, s/he will be treated as a Chinese citizen--that is why s/he can apply for traveller's document and doesn't need Chinese visa.

Hope our motherland can at least treat us, her very son/daughters, as regular people...
