Once I-485 has been filed , previous visa (F1) is no longer valid. You MUST apply for Advance parole to travlell outside US.

We all know Canada is a tricky place to take its advantage.

However, if for some reason, you are retained and got checked. When an IO notices you are 485 pending, he won't allow you return to US with F1 document (not valid anymore), and you can't apply AP outside US. What should you do?
