I become coffee-buddy with this congressman office's lady. She now told me that she did call her friend and her friend contacted her connection, blahblah. As for how FBI works, she doesn't know. She doesn't think she can interfere with FBI anyway. she only said that it MIGHT help to dust off your files in FBI if your files got requested by someone.

I am not suggesting that going to congressman helps for sure. The Congressman office stuff who deals with your matter could be friendly or not. Situation always varies. The only thing I can see is I understand how painful to wait for unknown answer. making appointment and going to Congressman office to chat does not cost too much of your time. so have a shot of it, see if it works.
