Howlong父母wait to revisit US

Please help:
My parents plan to leave the US next month, does anyone know at least how long will they have to wait in China for reapplying the visa to visit me again? I heard it is better to wait at least 8 months or even 1 year , is it true? Can somebody confirm with this or provide any clue?
