Status call to USCIS Customer Service

I called USCIS customer service to check on my 485 status. The rep cannot tell me the status on the name check but said I should receive a letter from USCIS within 15 days and if not, I should call back in 45 days. Is this their rountine response to ask you wait 15 days? Thanks
