we were students.
my wife had insurance (bad cheap student insurance from the University), but we spent over the insurance.
We paid off the $5000 in 5 years, no interest.
As far as my lawyer said, it does affect GC application.

My Mom came and got injury, we owned the hospital $1500, she applied and got that $1500 waived.
I don't feel guilty, because every year, I pay over $100k tax last year, I don't get much benefit. I am glad some of my tax money went to help my Mom.
