Dear Congresswoman XXX,
My name is XXXXX XXX and I am writing to ask for your support
for H.R. 3828, a bill designed to end all FBI namecheck backlogs.
Based on my research, as of October, 2007 approximately 31,000 NC
cases have been pending at FBI for at least 33 months. I hope you
agree that this not only poses an unacceptable burden on people
whose lives are on hold, but also leads to a national security risk
to this great country: I have been in this country legally for almost
10 years, working on the same job. I pray every single day that I can
get my Green Card tomorrow. How many 10 years does one have in his or
her life? In addition, can you imagine yourself working on the same job
for the next 10 years without promotion, pay raise, and year-end bonus?
And worst of all, your status would immediately become illegal as soon
as you get laid off since you are on H-1 work visa! On the other hand,
months or years of delay in NC does not serve the interest of the United
States at all – What if one of the 31,000 people mentioned above were a
terrorist? FBI’s delay in processing aforementioned individual’s NC
process is simply buying him or her more time so that the individual can
plan and carry out the next terrorist attack against the United
States!!!!!!
So I respectfully request you to support the passage of H.R. 3828. Thank
you in advance for your kind considerations and I hope positive steps to be taken on my request.
Sincerely,
XXXXX XXX
