IP Pending? = Name Check?

My wife is citizen. At our GC interview, officer wrote "IP pending" on the paper. Since we chatted too much (over 1 hour) at the interview, she didn't give time to explain what's IP, but told me it's "name check by FBI". Then I found on the internet, it's "indices popular". Am I right?

Officer told me there is no timeline for this "IP" thing...

Any similar experience to share? So frustrated. Even my immigration lawyer wasn't sure about this "IP" stuff.

Am I safe to go back China with my AP?
