Radiology, Pjiang, Xiaobaitu and others, URGENT HELP ON H1&485

H-1 expired on May 23. filed extension before that, now got RFE, may be denied. I-485 filed in July as spouse. Spouse is H-1 too. questions:

1. if my H-1 extension is denied, is there any gap (May 23- July) ?
2. can I still change status to H-4 in the states right now ?
3. if there is gap, will this gap affect my I-485 ?
4. can I go back to china to apply for H4, to override this gap ?
