of title is dependent on your job responsibility, qualification request, and your salary. The researcher is university is not a permanent position, the same with Postdoc in company. I am afraid the IOs only judge your title on your salary and responsibility which your manager in company can't easily manipulate it because it's not permanent position and you don't need him to increase your payment.
