H-1b transition question, please help!

Hi, I am going to work for a company on 10/1/2007 with the new H-1b visa. I am now working in a national lab using a nonprofit H-1b visa. I am leaving my current position on 9/28/2007. The HR people told me that I will be out of status for the weekends (9/29-9/30). Is there anyway to avoid this 2-days gap? Please help. Thank you very much.
