Stupid question, once we get green card, does China Embassy get notified by US immigration office?
- No

This question is acturally related to whether US borned kid needs a visa or just a travel passport to visit China. If you had experience about this, you know what I am talking about.
- Whether or not your US born kid needs a visa is subject to your status here in the US. You may request travel document for your kid if you could show Chinese Consulate your legal status rather than GC in form of valid I-94 or USCIS approval notice. If the only valid document you have is GC, you will have to apply visa for your kid on his/her US passport.
