H-1B rejected, have to use AP简介

My H-1b re-entry visa application got rejected in China and I have to use AP to go back to US. I think it should be OK for me to enter the US. But since my H-1B visa got rejected, could I work as H-1b status? Or I should work on EAD.

I guess I can still keep the H-1b status. H-1b entry visa is different from the H-1b status in US. Right?
