F1-->H4

my current status in F1, but my OPT application was rejected due to some complicated reasons.after this semester, I will be out of status.

Can I fail one course to defer graduation? I am pretty sure next semester I will be eligible to OPT.

how long dose it takes to change my status from F1 to H4.
