Question about AP, please help, Thanks a lot!!

I want to get AP for my son, he is 14 yaers old and we have our I 485 pending. My questions are:

Can my son apply AP by himself---- he sign the files or I need to sign and indicated I prepared these files for him?

A letter to explain why he need AP is also required, would you please share a sample letter?
