depending on what GC category to go.
If through marriage to a US citizen, he is fine.
If still want to go through EB route, there could be problem, and because the spouse is not acompany his EB I-485, his EB visa number still have to charge to China and subject to PRC PD cut-off date. Cannot cross charge to spouse native country.
