Since tango88 is ready to submit I-485, he should have applied I-140 and have it approved. Does this mean that TN can still be renewed once an I-140 petition is filed to INS or even approved?

My understanding is that, unlike H1B, TN is not a dual intent status and thus does not allow immigration intent. Is it possible either theoretically or practically to renew TN after an I-140 petition has been filed or even approved. Please advise.
