I think you will have to apply for a j waivor first before u apply for green card. but j waivor may take a long time to approve.
But if You may want to take a chance to apply for gc right now, u can fill up I485 this way. In I485, there is a question about whether u have a j not waivored yet. You can answer" pending". they may go through.
also when will your current j expire? can u apply for an extension and that will give u some time for J waivor. I did it this way.
