Those who overstay US for 6/12 months are prohibited from entering the US for 3/10 years respectively. However, the spouse or parents of US citizen can be forgiven when he/she file his/her AOS. If you overstay in US, don't leave the US while 485 is pending (even with the advance parole), cause that will trigger the 3/10 years ban. The INS officer will not ask you to leave the US for your Green Card app. Again, it is only for immediately family member of US citizen and they enter the US legally.

Still it is you best interest to maintain lawful status in US until your hu*****and file I-485 for you.
