First hand experience

I applied h1b renewal at start of May, no receipt. Lawyer said no recipt for most of the cases applied recently by him.

First I called cis to ask for receipt number but they requrie lawyer/employer.

Then I begged my lawyer to decipher the case number from the cleared check.

I'm in desperate for the approval notice because i need to travel now.

Just convert it to pp.

Moral of my story is if something you take for granted goes wrong, you are in bigger trouble.
