请教：签证美国for a conference多谢！

Last month I applied for US visa from US embassy at London for attending a 7-day conference at US, but it was rejected. The officer asked me to provide my CV and publication list, then send it to him by mail.
Anyone knows whether there is any hope in obtaining visa in this case, or other information related?
