I am afraid of potential future problem for joining the law suit

My lawyer has also contacted me for joining the law suit against USCIS. In order to join, you have to file I485 and get rejected. I have not replied to my lawyer whether I want to join. I am afraid of potential future problem such as being closely examined on my background checking. The possible side effect are mentioned in future.
