没有老板的funding letter, J1还能延期吗?

在学校做博士后. 我的J1 DS2019 到7月到期. 和老板的合同8月1号到期.我希望能继续在美国待到10月份,但老板已经明确表示不能续签合同了. 这种情况J1 还能延期吗? 或者有其他办法可以让我合法停留到10月也行???
