Responsibility as a sponsor

I am in the middel of applying immigration for my parents. Recently a good friend asked me to be the second sponsor for her hu*****and (immigration). I'd like to know if this will adversely affects my parents' application. What is the ultimate responsibility for a 2nd sponsor in case the worst situation happens? Appreciate your help.
