Xiao Bai Tu and other experts: I-485 RFE letter lost

Xiaobaitu and other experts,

on May 5, 2007, I got an email message saying 485 RFE. but I didn't receive the mail yet. Few weeks back, I went through Infopass and the officer suggested me to write USCIS a letter. Then I called USCIS and were told I have to wait another 45 days (I had the reference number for the call). So questions are:

1. What should we do next? Wait for another 45 days or continue to call them?

2. If 83 days passed after the notice and we didn't get the RFE letter, is the case going to be denied?

2. Is it necessary to write them a formal letter about the case? If so, is there any format we have to follow?
