My experience:

1) don't use digital zoom
2) do use flash
3) must use tripod, or remoter if it is equipped
4) against wall, or put a pure color sheet behind
5) make face small in frame than it is required so you have room to crop in SW
6) need to do some calculation so as to make perfect size in PS

step 6 almost killed me
