Technically, one can't multiple 485s. If you do, it might be OK, but will cause confusion of A# and result in delay since one can only have one adjustment of status in the end.

However, I am still confused by whether hu*****and and wife do their own 485 separately (each has 140 approved) or one petition. Any pros and cons? Any wise idea?
