For instance, you currently work for Company A under H1B as a software engineer. Company B can actually apply PERM-I140-I485 for you as a software engineer or Physicist or whatever. After your 485 is approved you have to work for Company B for some period of time at that position so Company B will not revoke you GC or USCIS will not think Company B's job offer is not true.
