Two year waiting period is from the date you got the conditional green card, not from the date you got married.

It seems your application process had been slow. I'm in the similiar situation: I got married at the end of 2001, get the conditional green card in Feb, 2002. And now I'm applying to remove the conditions and get the permanent green card.
