Wife has a chance to become? H1 or I-140? the two are different.
Do you or she have a current status other than 485 pending? (such as H1, H4) if no, she can file I-140, but not H1.

If she has H4 status, she can change to H1 status. And you keep your H1 in addition to 485 pending. That will be enough. No need for her to file I-140 before your I-140 denial in this case.
