AOS transfer to H4 ok?

I was on F1/OPT and later filed I-485 last winter. Now I received I-485 RFE and fear that I do not have adequate time to prepare and the material by the deadline, so I may be out of status then.

Should I transfer to H4 now (based on my hu*****and) in anticipation of likely 485 denial? Will H4 application affect my I-485 status?

Never used AP yet.
