请问关于按手印更改日期

我夫人收到按手印通知，时间是下周一，但是她周一有考试，无法去
我们准备申请更改日期
想知道如果把现在的通知寄回去要求更改日期
如果周一之前还没有收到新的通知，下周一
是否必须去按手印，
或者是把要求寄出去就可以了，周一就不去了，
等新通知来了之后再去
