Called TSC just now, and they mentioned "service request"

I just called TSC, the guy answering the phone said that he put a service request on my I-485 case, which was pending since Sep. 2004.

What does "service request" mean? The guy said it means someone will look my case and then contact with me by mail. Any one has experience to help me?

Really appreciate.
