If you only plan to come for a short term visit, you may apply for a B-2 visa. If you plan to join your wife, use F-2 visa because that will allow you to stay in the US for the duration of your wife's visa. You should ask your wife to provide you with a affidavit of support (Form I-134) which can be downloaded from BCIS' website which should be notarized.
