EAD

We applied EAD online (Efile) in December, but haven't heard any information till now. The processing date for EAD in Texas Center is January 23 now. What's more, we found that the payment hasn't been posted to our credit card. Afer calling the national cernter hotline, they say no problem (actually they know nothing). We thought that it could be faster by e-filing, and didn't expect so miserable. Anyone has the similar experience?
Is it OK to continue to work while the current EAD expired?
