I have no idea about most case processing in Nebraska. But you are lucky if your 485 got approved within 600 dyas. Anything could happen in INS, just pray.

FP is usually valid within 15 months (some up to 18 months). It is quite possible FP expires before 485 completes, and need to do the second one. It depends on when you are asked to do your first FP.
