We had the same trouble when we came back from Canada after landing. The custom officer (or immigration officer?) told us it was illegal to apply both GCs in U.S. and Canada.He was going to write a letter to both USCIS and Canada immigration service.

That news scared us. We talked to our U.S. lawyers. They said it is not illegal.
