How do those AP holders survive without H1B ? -Xiaobaitu, we nee

I am confused.
If you have used AP to back to China and come back, then you have lost H1 status, how can you continue working for your sponsor employer? get EAD? People whose 485 is pending goes back to China with AP risk their legal status here. If your 485 is denied, then are you dead? If this is the case, Is there any way to fix it without being illeal? Xiaobaitu, can you help? AP holders/applicants please share? Thanks a lot.
