F-1 visa and 401K

Hi guys, I am an F-1 student and currently working full-time at a company using CPT, is it legal for me to put money into 401K account every month? Or I have to wait till my H1 visa arrives to contribute to my 401K?

Any help is appreciated, thanks a lot!
