怎么才知道对方有没有和自己离婚.

上个月我和一位美国公民在纽约市登记结婚,我住纽约,对方住新泽西.前几天对方说在新泽西当地找律师要和我单方面离婚,取消结婚. 我后来打电话追问她又说律师给她fax文件,只要她签字寄回去就生效但是她还没签字.今天她又和我说其实早就和我离婚了,搞的我非常烦.我想知道到底对方有没有和我离婚.
btw:我们没有住一块,我的纽约住址她知道.
