tuition!!! I have similar experience, but I don't want to pay for almost 3000 dollars a semester to community college (you need 12 undergrad credit hours to keep your F-1 status, times the credit hour rate, total would be around 3000Dollars) It is not worth it to me. My suggestion, try to find a real university with a NOT so "hot" major, it doesn't matter how small the university is or how rural the university location is. Try to get a financial aid, campus office assistant, or whatever...
