Xiaobaitu, help with my question about following to join

I want to file I-824 for my son who is in China with his mom(my ex.) now. His guardian is his mom, not me now. We will change it soon. Before we have new document of his custody changed, can I file 824 for my son, and provide the document later? My concern is the date on the new document is later than the date I file I-824, is it going to be a trouble? Thanks.
